There is not a thing new in the question posed by Seahorse. Sailing has always been expensive - expensive either in terms of self-help labour as in the old days of stiching together Mirror dinghys, or money as in purchasig a modern day Opti.
Cost is just a fact of life and some things cost a lot, just like the cost of AUD$152 to subscribe to a year of Seahorse.
