Rotary Sailing Research



There are two areas in which a sailing boat is not practical; its inability to sail in a region of approximately 45 degrees either side of the direct head-to-wind direction, and the impossibility of its making progress when there is no wind to drive it. Isn't this design a rehash of one of L. Francis Herreshoff's?

I don't know why this is even posted. This is a ten year old article that proved impossible for human transportation due to the thrust factor (unless you had a 12' blade).

Hi All
This is extremely relevant.
I am the designer of the craft shown.
It certainly is not "impossible" as so many have said. Work is still being carried out on this.
