The Austin Powers series of movies so far consists of the following films:1997 - Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery
1999 - Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me
2002 - Austin Powers in Goldmember
So now eleven years later, one of the 195 entrants this week at the US Opti Team Trials in Annapolis, MD. is also named Austin Powers. Coincidence?

A little bit of research using the Google suggests that young Mr. Powers' parents probably chose his name well before the first Austin Powers movie was released in May 1997. He sailed in the Blue Fleet at the 2007 Optimist New England Championships last August, meaning he was 11 or 12 at that time, and was therefore born before August 1996.
